The Railway Supply Institute’s American Railway Car Institute (ARCI) Committee on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, released its railcar industry order, delivery, and backlog statistics for the third quarter, with tank cars and covered hopper cars continuing to account for most activity.

Figures released Friday, July 19, 2013, by the Railway Supply Institute’s American Railcar Institute Committee (ARCI) show that tank cars continued to be a driving force in railcar orders during the second quarter, according to KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc. analyst Steve Barger.
The Railway Supply Institute said Friday, June 21 it is forming a Passenger Rail Committee, intended to “support, connect, and advocate for railway suppliers who provide equipment and services to high speed and intercity passenger rail.”
Figures released Wednesday by the Railway Supply Institute’s American Railway Car Institute (ARCI) Committee show 23,901 cars were ordered in the first quarter of 2013, while 11,952 cars were delivered, with a backlog of 71,704 cars, all up from the fourth quarter of 2012.
