House committee eyes rail safety, hazmat issues

Reauthorized rail safety legislation the implementation of two new laws on pipeline safety and hazardous materials safety are on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s agenda in 2013, according to the committee’s oversight plan released earlier this week.

ARCI reports decline in railcar orders

Orders and deliveries of railcars declined in the third quarter, according to statistics released by the Railway Supply Institute’s American Railway Car Institute (ARCI) Committee.

The Railway Supply Institute Tuesday announced the election results for its Board of Directors, tallied after its annual meeting in Chicago last month, and the Board’s 2013 officers.

BNSF President and Chief Operating Officer Carl Ice will deliver the keynote speech Sept. 24 to the Opening General Session of the Railway Supply Institute’s RSI/CMA 2012 Conference and Trade Show in Chicago.

RSI/CMA exhibit space applications now online

Exhibit space is now available for the RSI/CMA 2012, set for Sept. 23-25 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in Chicago. Railway Supply Institute exhibits will be held in conjunction with the Coordinated Mechanical Association’s technical sessions.

Industry readies for Railroad Day on Capitol Hill

Railroad Day on Capitol Hill is Thursday, March 8, and the Railway Supply Institute is urging RSI members, and indeed all pro-rail interests, to “help educate policymakers on the positive impact our job-producing industry has on the U.S. economy.”
