Bombardier Transportation is promoting its Flexity Freedom streetcar design to cities in western Canada this summer, with the company displaying the low-floor wireless streetcar design in Edmonton, Alberta, this past weekend.

Waterloo council makes “add-on” LRT order

Officials from Ontario’s Waterloo-Kitchener-Cambridge metropolitan area, southwest of Toronto, say they will place an add-on order with Bombardier Transportation for 14 light rail transit (LRT) vehicles to facilitate the region’s plans for LRT.

Alstom, Bombardier tout RATP/STIF order

Bombardier Transportation on Friday said as part of the Alstom-Bombardier consortium, it will supply 210 double-deck commuter train cars for line A of the RER, the Greater Paris regional rail network. Separately, Alstom on Friday identified the order as “70 additional duplex trainsets, known as MI09s.”

Bombardier Transportation Tuesday affirmed an option order worth about $266 million placed by BART for 150 additional rail cars.

Bombardier signs BART contract for new cars

Bombardier Transportation said Thursday it has signed a contract with Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) for 260 new rail cars, valued at about $631 million.

Bombardier signs MTA NYCT contract

Bombardier Transportation announced Monday that it has signed its contract for 300 R179 subway cars with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to be delivered to New York City Transit (NYCT). The order is valued at approximately $599 million.

NJT’s ALP-45DP enters revenue service

New Jersey Transit’s newest locomotive made its first revenue service run May 30. The ALP-45DP (dual-power), described by NJT as a “hybrid” locomotive in that it operates under AC-catenary electric or diesel-electric power, is the first of its type in North America.

Atlanta airport extends Bombardier APM system

Bombardier Transportation Wednesday said it is celebrating the start of passenger services on the newly extended INNOVIA APM 100 automated people mover (APM) system at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
