NCTD salutes U.S. military

Southern California’s North County Transit District, which operates the Oceanside-San Diego Coaster commuter rail service, Oceanside-Escondido Sprinter diesel light rail, and Breeze buses, is honoring members of the U.S. military—active duty, veterans, and their dependents—from Nov. 9-12 by providing free transportation “to express the District’s gratitude to our local armed forces for their service to our country and the community.”

Bombardier LRT manufacturing wins award

Bombardier Transportation announced Friday it was honored as Manufacturer of the Year at the 2012 Light Rail Awards ceremony, held in London on Wednesday. The company said it was the third year in a row it landed the honor.

Bombardier lands orders in Austria, Germany

Bombardier Transportation on Monday said it had landed two significant orders, one for 32 streetcars (trams) by Innsbruck, Austria, and a second involving TWINDEXX Vario double-decker electric multiple-unit (EMU) trains for Germany’s Deutsche Bahn AG (DB).

Bombardier wins Belgium cities tram order

Bombardier Transportation said Thursday it has signed a contract with the Flemish Transport operator De Lijn to supply 48 FLEXITY 2 trams for the Belgian cities of Ghent and Antwerp. The order is worth roughly $165 million, and includes an option for 40 additional trams.

Bombardier will expand Israeli fleet

Bombardier Transportation announced that it will supply Israel Railways (ISR) with an additional 72 double-deck coaches. This order is part of a framework agreement signed in October 2010, under which 150 coaches were ordered that year.

Bombardier, EMD team up to export locomotives

Bombardier Transportation and Electro-Motive Diesel ( a subsidiary of Progress Rail Services) announced Wednesday that they are joining forces to assemble diesel-electric locomotives in India. Bombardier will deliver locomotives to EMD for export to Southeast Asia and the Pacific region. Bombardier and EMD made the announcement at the InnoTrans 2012 exhibition in Berlin.

Bombardier Chinese order is adjusted

Bombardier Transportation said Wednesday its Chinese joint venture, Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation Ltd., has accepted a variation order by the Chinese Ministry of Railways (MOR).
