The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) has appointed long-time ASLRRA contractor and exhibition manager Kathy Keeney as Vice President, Membership & Exhibit Services.

The American Short Line Rail and Regional Association (ASLRRA) has announced the winners of its 2014 Safety Awards, including Safety Person of the Year, Safety Professional of the Year, Most Improved Award, the President’s Awards, Jake Awards with Distinction, and Jake Awards.

OmniTRAX’s Billie Johnson earns ASLRRA top safety award

Billie Johnson, General Manager at OmniTRAX Inc. short lines Newburgh & South Shore Railroad and Northern Ohio & Western Railway is the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association’s (ASLRRA) 2014 Safety Person of the Year. Johnson will receive the award at the ASLRRA Convention in Orlando March 28-30, 2015.

Senators introduce 45G tax credit measure

Eight U.S. Senators this week introduced the Short Line Railroad Rehabilitation and Investment Act of 2015, designed to extend Section 45G (26 USC 45G) short line track maintenance tax credits that expired in 2014, the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) said Wednesday, March 4, 2015.

ASLRRA IDs five for Safety Institute push

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association said Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 its chairman, Ed McKechnie, had announced the selection of five industry safety experts retained as assessors for a pilot project as the first step toward the longer-range goal of developing a comprehensive industry-wide safety culture assessment program that will serve as the core of the Short Line Safety Institute.

45 G tax credit extended through 2014

U.S. Senate approval Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, of 45-G, by a 76-to-16 vote, has assured passage of the measure, part of H.R. 5771, The Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014, and providing a fiscal boost to freight railroads, particularly short line and regional operations.

Darr to succeed Timmons at ASLRRA

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) has selected Linda Bauer Darr, a former U.S. Department of Transportation official with nearly 20 years of trade association experience in the trucking, moving and storage, and bus industries, to succeed Richard Timmons as the Association’s President. Timmons is retiring at the end of 2014.

Search under way for new ASLRRA President

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) has selected Jason Ward, Managing Partner of Industrial Search Partners, to conduct the search for a new President. Current President Richard F. Timmons will be retiring at the end of this year.
