Nominations are still being accepted for the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) 2014 awards honoring marketing, safety, and improvement – but the deadline of Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, is near.
Among those recognized with various awards April 30 (including Railway Age’s own Short Line Railroad of the Year and Regional Railroad of the Year honors) during the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association annual meeting in Atlanta, the New York & Atlantic Railway notched both marketing and safety awards from ASLRRA.
The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) Friday said it had reached a major milestone “by securing the 51st Senate co-sponsor of legislation to extend the short line rehabilitation tax credit (45G). The legislation has now been sponsored by a majority of both Houses of Congress.”
The freight railroads, intercity passenger and commuter railroads, and rail supply companies of the United States expect to hire more than 5,000 veterans in 2012.
