Transit Briefs: Brightline, PANY/NJ

Brightline is now offering shuttle service to South Florida airports and Miami Beach. Also, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANY/NJ) will go forward with bus service, not rail, to link LaGuardia Airport with New York City subways and commuter railroads; has approved an AirTrain Newark (N.J.) access improvement project; and selects Alstom for an AirTrain Newark operations and maintenance services contract.

Alstom Preferred Bidder for Quebec City LRV Contract

Quebec City has selected Alstom as preferred bidder to design, build and maintain the fleet of low-floor LRVs for the city’s $C 3.9 million ($US 2.9 million) light rail project.

Alstom will provide 130 trolley vehicles to SEPTA to replace the existing fleet, which has served riders since the 1980s.

Alstom Lands SEPTA Order for 130 LRVs

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) on Feb. 23 awarded a contract to Alstom Transportation, Inc., for 130 new Citadis™ light rail vehicles, with an option to order up to 30 more. The base order is valued at approximately $714 million.

Alstom Releases ‘HSR in America’ Webpage

Alstom recently made its new High-Speed Rail (HSR) in America webpage live on its U.S. website, showcasing the company as “the first manufacturer of HSR trains in the U.S. out of Hornell, N.Y.”
