Manhattan ESA link seen boosting home values

A report released Monday says home values in parts of Long Island—a region which has suffered, sometimes dramatically, since the Great Recession—will be greatly aided by MTA Long Island Rail Road’s East Side Access (ESA) project, projected now to open in 2019.

Station sites adjusted for Waterloo region LRT

Officials from Ontario’s Waterloo-Kitchener-Cambridge metropolitan area, southwest of Toronto, say at least five station stops of the planned light rail transit system will be placed in the center of roadways and not along roadsides, similar to the approach taken in nearby Toronto.

Amtrak, CHSRA plan joint HSR gear order

LIRR taps Axion for more ties

Axion International Holdings, Inc. producer of recycled plastic and plastic composite technologies, said it has received a purchase order from the Long Island Rail Road for additional Ecotrax rail ties, to be used “in various locations throughout Long Island.” The size of the order was not specified.

PATH round-the-clock service inches ahead

PATH has combined portions of three regular daytime routes to re-establish overnight service on part of its system for the first time since Hurricane Sandy crippled the bistate rapid transit system Oct. 29. The service is set to commence Wednesday evening.
