The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) is seeking industry feedback on its track, systems and trainset procurement options. Wabtec Lands VLI Locomotive Contract

Logistics firm VLI has selected Wabtec to supply nine Evolution Series (ES43BBl) locomotives to support cargo transport on the Ferrovia Centro-Atlântica (FCA) in Brazil. The order is valued at approximately R$200 million (US$38.4 million), Wabtec reported March 1.

DRPT Issues Rail Industrial Access Program Grant

The Ashton Creek Industrial Park LLC in Chesterfield County, Va., will receive a $450,000 Rail Industrial Access Program grant to support construction of a rail spur, to be served by CSX, according to the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), which administers the program.

Transport Canada Allocates C$5.4MM for Rail Resiliency

Transport Canada is distributing up to C$5.4 million to 20 infrastructure projects country-wide that it says will make railroads “more resilient to extreme weather risks.”

MAC Products Expands Rail Transit Business

MAC-IMPulse, LLC, an affiliate of MAC Products, Inc., has acquired the rail transit business assets of AFL Telecommunications (AFL). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ahead of service to Orlando, train testing of up to 125 mph is beginning for Brightline, Florida’s private-sector passenger railroad. Also, Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is livestreaming the morning rush service conditions on Blue Line O’Hare Branch; Sound Transit’s Link light rail extension from Tacoma to Seattle is delayed again; and the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) establishes a partnership with the city of Austin, Tex., to finance mobility and Infrastructure projects, including the $7.1 billion Project Connect.

Pleasanton, Calif.-based Blume Global is delivering a program “that will track Run Rail’s private 53-foot fleet containers at all times, while also providing the ability for IMCs to reserve and bill for Run Rail's equipment.”

Run Rail selects Blume Global to supply a rail billing program plus container management services. Also, Duos Technologies reports that its machine vision system can be tailored to meet railcar inspection requirements; and TÜV Rheinland receives Standards Council of Canada accreditation as an independent safety assessor for rail projects.
