WMATA FTA funds await SSOP

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will withhold 5% of federal funds to the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia until a new Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) State Safety Oversight Program (SSOP) is in place.

WMATA removes 4000-series railcars in safety concern

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) General Manager/CEO Paul J. Wiedefeld ordered on November 17 the immediate removal from service of all 4000-series railcars from the lead position of trains following the identification of a potential safety concern involving the vehicle’s automatic train control (ATC) system that could result in a “false indication” to a train operator going undetected.

OUTFRONT Media, WMATA build on digital advertising partnership

OUTFRONT Media Inc., announced on March 24, 2016 the next deployment of its ON Smart Media platform with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), expanding the long-term relationship between OUTFRONT and the agency. The new high-function ON Smart Media displays were installed Wednesday, March 23 at the entrance/exit way of the Green Line’s Navy Yard station, one block away from Nationals Park.
