WisDOT: $885,000 to Support Southeast Wisconsin Rail Project
Gov. Tony Evers, together with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) on June 13 announced an $885,000 Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) grant to the Village of Pleasant Prairie to support a rail project that will enable corrugated packaging company WestRock to open a new manufacturing facility and create 177 jobs in the Southeast Wisconsin community.

Sound Transit moves forward on the purchase of 10 more Link cars. Also, Amtrak service from St. Paul, Minn., to Chicago, Ill., reaches the final design phase; and Sant Clara Valley Transportation Authority (SCVTA) vehicles are taking the place of Reading, Pennsylvania, B&O and Short Line on the new Monopoly San Jose Edition.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has published an updated and, for the first time, combined State Freight and Rail Plan (SFRP). Meanwhile, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s (WisDOT) draft Wisconsin Rail 2050 is now available for review and comment.
WisDOT Awards TEA Grants for CN Rail Spur Projects
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) announced on Oct. 6 that it has awarded two Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) grants to allow rail spurs to be built to existing CN lines at Alliance Plastics Inc. and Drexel Systems LLC, two tenants in the state’s newest industrial park located in Wrightstown, Wisc. The grants are expected to add more than 120 manufacturing jobs.

Wisconsin Port Secures $900,000 Grant
The Port of Manitowoc will use a $900,000 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to help construct new rail platform extensions that will support the manufacturing, assembly and shipping of cranes for the U.S. Navy.

B-256 gets an extended life span
One of the oldest railroad bridges in Wisconsin, a more-than-century-old, 2,200-foot timber structure spanning the Wisconsin River at Spring Green on the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad’s (WSOR) Prairie Subdivision, has undergone a a major improvement project. WSOR, a Watco Cos.subsidiary, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) collaborated on the project.
