Wabtec Corporation on July 30 reported receiving a $277 million order for Evolution Series ES43ACmi locomotives from SimFer, a joint venture among the government of the Republic of Guinea, Rio Tinto, and Chalco Iron Ore Holdings.
Wabtec Corporation and Indian Railways on July 25 celebrated the launch of locomotive service operations at the Gooty Maintenance Shed in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh. The shed complements the manufacturer’s existing locomotive
“The Wabtec team delivered another strong quarter, evidenced by robust sales and earnings per share growth,” President and CEO Rafael Santana said in a July 24 earnings announcement. Sales were up 9.8% year-over-year, driven by sales growth in both the Freight and Transit segments.
The first of six cutting-edge hybrid battery-electric locomotives designed and built by Union Pacific (UP) and its partner ZTR, a locomotive control systems supplier, are currently being tested at a UP facility and rail yard.

Track maintenance equipment and services provider Loram takes delivery of Rail Vision Ltd.’s monitoring and obstacle detection system for yards. Also, Wabtec Corporation achieves ISO 27001 certification; and Eco-Energy, LLC partners with Commtrex to deliver outsourced logistics and fleet management services throughout North America.

A U.S. Class I railroad has taken delivery of Rail Vision Ltd.’s monitoring and obstacle detection system for yards. Also, Wabtec Corporation’s Green Friction braking system will be deployed on RER A line trains operating in the Paris, France, metropolitan area.
