Wabtec Lands $277MM Order for Guinea Iron-Ore Project

Wabtec Corporation on July 30 reported receiving a $277 million order for Evolution Series ES43ACmi locomotives from SimFer, a joint venture among the government of the Republic of Guinea, Rio Tinto, and Chalco Iron Ore Holdings.

UP, ZTR Partner on Hybrid-Electric Locomotives (UPDATED, 6/27)

The first of six cutting-edge hybrid battery-electric locomotives designed and built by Union Pacific (UP) and its partner ZTR, a locomotive control systems supplier, are currently being tested at a UP facility and rail yard.

A U.S. Class I railroad has taken delivery of Rail Vision Ltd.’s monitoring and obstacle detection system for yards. Also, Wabtec Corporation’s Green Friction braking system will be deployed on RER A line trains operating in the Paris, France, metropolitan area.
