US associations present the ‘American Way’ at InnoTrans 2016

Four of the most important industrial associations in the USA—the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA), the Railway Supply Institute (RSI), the Railway Systems Suppliers, Inc. (RSSI) and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA)—are coming to InnoTrans in Berlin Sept. 20-23, 2016, in order to “present a concentrated display of their country’s economic strengths in the rail transport sector.”

Prototype MP54AC delivered to Metrolinx, GO Transit

Wabtec Corp. subsidiary MotivePower has delivered a prototype MP54AC diesel-electric locomotive to Metrolinx, the regional transportation authority for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), for service on GO Transit. This is the first regional/commuter locomotive delivered in North America certified to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Tier 4 emissions standards.

Wabtec: Strong 2015, promising 2016

Wabtec Corporation on Feb. 18, 2016 reported record results for fourth-quarter 2015, as higher sales in the company’s Freight Group more than offset lower sales in the Transit Group, which led to $833 million in sales for the quarter.

PRASA: Alstom railcars, Wabtec brakes

Wabtec Corp. has begun deliveries of brake system equipment to Alstom, which is building up to 3,600 commuter railcars for the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA).

Wabtec lands $45 million PTC contracts with Metra, PTG

Wabtec Corporation has signed contracts worth about $45 million to provide equipment and services for a Positive Train Control (PTC) system for the Metra, the Northeast Illinois commuter rail system. The contracts are with Metra and Parsons Transportation Group (PTG).

First MP54AC testing on GO Transit

GO Transit’s first MP54AC Tier 4-compliant diesel-electric locomotive from the MotivePower Inc. (MPI) Division of Wabtec has been delivered and underwent testing on the weekend of Dec. 12-13, 2015. No. 47 is part of a $4 million order for 11 MP54ACs announced in 2012.

Wabtec receives $26 million order for Saudi Arabia Railway

Wabtec Corporation has received an order valued at about $26 million to provide components, including electronically controlled pneumatic (ECP) braking equipment, for 1,186 freight cars to be built for the Saudi Arabia Railway by The Greenbrier Companies, the company announced Nov. 17, 2015. The components are expected to be delivered over the next two years.

Wabtec to provide signaling, PTC for Denver commuter rail

Wabtec Corporation has signed a $27 million contract with Regional Rail Partners to provide Phase I signaling and communications systems, including Positive Train Control (PTC) equipment, for the new North Metro Rail Line in Denver, the company announced Nov. 9, 2015. The line will eventually be integrated into Regional Transit District (RTD) commuter rail services.

Wabtec posts solid third-quarter results

Wabtec Corp. on Oct. 22, 2015 reported solid third-quarter 2015 results largely due to growth in the company’s Freight Group.

Wabtec, Faiveley Transport commit to acquisition

Wabtec Corp. on Oct. 6, 2015 signed a definitive agreement with members of the Faiveley family to acquire approximately 51% of Faiveley Transport S.A., a provider of integrated systems and services for the railway industry with annual sales of about $1.2 billion. The total purchase price is about $1.8 billion, including assumed debt.
