Wabtec Wins $157MM Siemens Brake Order

Wabtec Corporation on Jan. 24 reporting landing a $157 million brake system order from the Mobility Business of Siemens India Private Limited for Indian Railways’ (IR) new line of 1,200 electric locomotives for freight service.

Wabtec Releases 2023 Sustainability Report

Wabtec Corporation on Nov. 6 released its 2023 Sustainability Report highlighting the company’s “vision and progress on key environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments.”

Wabtec has landed a “multi-million-dollar” order from Kawasaki Rail Car for brakes and couplers that will be used on MTA New York City Transit’s 640 new R211 rapid transit cars. The 640 cars were ordered in 2022 as an option to a 2018 base order for 535 cars (pictured).

Wabtec Corporation is supplying brakes and couplers for 640 MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) R211s on order with Kawasaki Rail Car Inc. Also, supply chain visibility provider FourKites updates its AI-enabled Slot Manager system.

“Blume’s asset management solution is well established as the marketplace where IMCs obtain railroad-owned intermodal equipment,” Blume Global CEO Pervinder Johar said Sept. 11. “We look forward to helping CPKC expand their business in the U.S.”

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) will use Blume Global’s asset management system to foster intermodal traffic growth. Also, Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore Company of Canada (Rio Tinto IOC) is donating C$4 million to a Quebec college for a new training, research and innovation pavilion for the rail, industrial maintenance and energy intelligence industries; and Penn State names Wabtec Corporation as its 2023 Corporate Partner of the Year.

Wabtec’s Services team will modernize CN’s 60 certified pre-owned Dash-9 locomotives to bring the total modernized fleet to 110 locomotives.

Wabtec Modernizing 60 Additional CN Locomotives

CN on July 26 announced an order to enhance an additional 60 locomotives in its existing fleet through Wabtec’s modernization program, supporting the Class I railroad’s “commitment to drive growth in a sustainable manner and build success for customers, employees and communities.”

Wabtec Lands FLXdrive Order, Alternative Fuel Testing Partnership With Vale

Wabtec Corporation is supplying three FLXdrive battery locomotives to global mining company Vale, and the two companies are teaming to test ammonia as an alternative fuel replacing diesel, they reported July 13.
