UP’s Fritz ascends to Chairman and CEO

Union Pacific’s board of directors elected President and Chief Operating Officer Lance Fritz Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, effective Oct. 1, 2015. He succeeds John Koraleski as Chairman. Koraleski plans to retire Sept. 30 after a 43-year career at UP.

UP posts flat second-quarter earnings

Net income of $1.2 billion, compared with 2014 net income of $1.3 billion, combined with an operating revenue decrease of 10% and an operating income down 11%, resulted in a flat second-quarter 2015 for Union Pacific (UP), the railroad reported on July 23, 2015.

UP slates $15 million for one Missouri line

Union Pacific Railroad (UP) is investing nearly $15 million in its rail line between the Missouri/Iowa border and Trenton, Mo., part of an overall $66 million program in that state, the company announced July 13, 2015. The project began July 9 and is scheduled to be completed by mid-August.

James H. Evans, 1920-2015

James H. Evans, who served as Union Pacific Chairman of the Board from 1977 to 1985, died Monday, May 11, 2015. He was 94. UP did not report a cause of death.

Big Spring Rail to expand its facilities

(BSR), a linehaul railroad that operates and maintains approximately 2.07 miles of rail line in Howard County, Tex., announced on May 11, a multi-million dollar expansion within the Big Spring McMahon Wrinkle Airpark.
