CN recognizes 58 customers and supply chain partners for their commitment to sustainability. Also, Norfolk Southern (NS) donates $600,000 to 26 organizations to help combat homelessness, and pays tribute to its craft railroaders in local newspaper advertisements; and Union Pacific (UP) reports its first-time inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) North America.

Just What Does STB Consider ‘Reasonable’?

Union Pacific and Sanimax are currently engaged in an interesting bit of litigation. It’s not a rate case or anything I worked on in my more than 15 years at the Surface Transportation Board. The question is whether UP has violated its “common carrier obligation.”

The 133-year-old Merchants Bridge, which spans the Mississippi River at St. Louis and links Missouri and Illinois, officially reopened to rail traffic Sept. 15, following completion of a $222 million replacement project. Report: Port of Inola’s Rail Project Advances

The City of Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority in Oklahoma has awarded a $15.768 million contract to Chicago-based Ragnar Benson LLC for the construction of a 4.4-mile rail spur at the Tulsa Port of Inola, according to a Dec. 4 Tulsa World report.

NS will present 15 customers and suppliers with inaugural Thoroughbred Sustainability Partner Awards in January 2023.
