CSX announces new graduates from the Warrior to Work drone program through the Class I’s partnership with Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). Also, Union Pacific (UP) partners with The Manufacturing Institute to grow its Second Chance Hiring Program; and donates photography equipment to Chicago youth.

An 18-month pilot could launch in summer 2024 “with the intention of eventually making free and reduced transfers a permanent policy across the Bay Area,” according to a Bay City News Foundation report.

San Francisco Bay Area public transit officials consider a “free transfer” pilot. Also, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (LACMTA) drug-free campaign on three light rail lines is showing promise; and Union Pacific (UP) is transferring its Chicago commuter rail services to Metra.

Derek Gaston, CN’s Terminal Manager, Intermodal/Multimodal Operations at Taschereau Yard, is leading a pilot project to retrofit light trucks to run on propane and gas to reduce emissions.

UP, SMART-TD Reach Labor Agreement

Union Pacific (UP) on March 25 reported reaching a tentative crew-consist agreement with General 953, part of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers-Transportation Division (SMART-TD), in which two-person crews would be maintained.

UP Chief Information Officer Rahul Jalali has joined the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Cybersecurity Advisory Committee.
