Reports: Mayan Train Freight Terminal Coming to Cancun

The Mexican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) on Sept. 1 signed off on clearing approximately 641 acres (259.5 hectares) of land near the Cancun International Airport for a Maya Train cargo terminal, according to media reports.

Wi-Tronix Teams With Tren Maya

Bolingbrook, Ill.-based Wi-Tronix on Aug. 8 reported a new multi-year partnership with Tren Maya to bring advanced remote monitoring, AI-based analytics, and video intelligence to its locomotive fleet in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.

Alstom Delivers First Tren Maya Long-Distance Trainset

Alstom on Sept. 20 reported delivering for the Tren Maya project the first of three long-distance trainsets to Mexico’s federal government and the National Fund for Tourism Development (FONATUR) / Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA).

New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (NYMTA) unveils its Climate Resiliency Roadmap. Also, Washington’s Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority (Sound Transit) earns a sustainability award for its Federal Way Link light rail extension; metro-Vancouver’s TransLink approves a 2024 investment plan to address overcrowding; and the final sections of Mexico’s Tren Maya project are expected to be completed in August.
