Transport Canada: C$9.8MM for Rail Safety in Quebec

Transport Canada on March 13 announced that it has prioritized investments of C$9.8 million for more than 70 projects across Quebec through the Rail Safety Improvement Program, including a C$472,679 project in Saint-Lazare for fencing off a section of rail in the Legault Road area.

The city of Savannah, Ga., on Jan. 10 reported that a federally designated quiet zone will be implemented on the CSX-owned Old Fort Rail line that runs through downtown, from Habersham Street to President Street.

Also, the government of Canada invests in expanding the Archer Daniels Midland Company Grain Terminal at Ontario’s Port Windsor, which is served by Essex Terminal Railway (ETR) with connections to CN, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), and Norfolk Southern (NS).

Transport Canada, RAC Join Forces to Reduce Emissions

Canada’s Minister of Transport Pablo Rodriguez and Railway Association of Canada (RAC) President and CEO Marc Brazeau on Dec. 21 jointly announced a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that “reflects a shared vision of working toward net-zero emissions by 2050 and builds upon the meaningful progress made to date by the Canadian rail sector.”
