Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow launches an action plan to boost safety across the city’s transit system. Also, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) honors veterans with patriotic trains and buses for Veterans Day; Kroll Bond Rating Agency affirms its highest rating for Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon’s (TriMet) payroll tax revenue bonds; and West Virginia University (WVU) celebrates five decades of PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) service.

The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) launches the Transit Connect app. Also, LA Metro begins passenger service on the Glendora to Pomona extension of the Metro A Line; COWI is appointed to lead the design for New York’s 2nd Avenue Subway Expansion; stalled contract talks with its union mean the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) strike could be extended; and crisis workers will be stationed on Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway platforms as part of a new safety pilot.

Rail Connect Partners Lands East Harbour Transit Hub Contract

The Ontario government has awarded the construction contract for the East Harbour Transit Hub in Toronto, an interchange station connecting to Metrolinx’s Lakeshore East and Stouffville GO commuter rail lines and providing access to the future Ontario Line subway and future Toronto Transit Commission streetcar extension.
