STO Taps Groupe Porteur for Gatineau-Ottawa Tramway

The Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) announced Jan. 14 that it has awarded the contract for professional, technical, and multidisciplinary services on the 24-kilometer (15-mile) Gatineau-Ottawa tramway project, which will link downtown Gatineau to Ottawa, to Groupe Porteur.

Kinga Surma, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure, has debuted legislation proposing that municipalities fund the design and construction of new GO Transit stations, according to The Canadian Press.

Transit Briefs: GO Transit, NYPD/NYMTA, PennDOT, REM

Ontario, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure eyes a new way of funding GO Transit stations. Also, an autonomous security robot will report for duty in the New York City Subway; Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Norfolk Southern (NS) finalize an agreement to expand Amtrak Pennsylvanian passenger rail service; and noise mitigation measures are being implemented on Réseau express métropolitain in Montreal.

The MCS consortium will integrate as a delivery partner with Metrolinx on its Scarborough Subway and Yonge North Subway extension projects, extending Toronto Transit Commission’s existing subway network by approximately 10 miles.

MCS Consortium Awarded Metrolinx GTA Contract

The Mace, Comtech and SYSTRA consortium (MCS) has been awarded the Delivery Partner Services contract to support Metrolinx’s Scarborough Subway and Yonge North Subway extension projects in Canada’s Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

$45MM BART CBTC Contract to Parsons

Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) has awarded Parsons Corp. a $45 million engineering services contract for the agency’s Train Control Modernization Project to implement CBTC (communications-based train control). CBTC is part of BART’s $3.5 billion Transbay Corridor Core Capacity Program, which includes five new traction power substations, 306 new rail vehicles and development of a maintenance complex.

Walker to serve as SYSTRA VP

Rail and transit consulting firm SYSTRA recently announced that Norine M. Walker, P.E., has joined the team as Vice President.
