Metra seeks bids for Chicago bridge project

Chicago’s Metra transit agency is seeking bids for the next phase of the multi-year Union Pacific North bridge project, which will replace 100-year-old bridges over 11 streets on the North Side of Chicago, as well as construct the inbound half of the new Ravenswood Station.

Metro-North, Zipcar launch car-sharing initiative

MTA Metro-North Railroad and Zipcar, a leading provider of vehicle sharing services, on Feb. 24 launched the Hudson Valley Car Share initiative at nine train stations in New York State’s Hudson Valley. Passengers “can conveniently take a Zipcar from the station and easily travel to tourist destinations and other locations throughout the region,” Metro-North said.

BNSF sees $3.5B in economic development

Development along BNSF Railway’s network totaled nearly $3.5 billion in 2016, including completion of a $1.3-billion steel mill in Arkansas and a sugar facility in Illinois.
