Amtrak Playing Hardball With CSX, NS on Gulf Coast Service (Updated)

In a move that appears to be a pre-emptive strike, Amtrak has asked the Surface Transportation Board (STB) to intervene on its behalf if CSX and Norfolk Southern don’t cooperate on hosting proposed new service between New Orleans and Mobile.

STB Extends Uinta Basin Railway DEIS Comment Period

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) is extending until Feb. 12 the comment period on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed 85-mile Uinta Basin Railway in Utah. Martin J. Oberman was designated Chairman of the Surface Transportation Board (STB) on Jan. 21 by President Joe Biden. He was sworn in as an STB member on Jan. 22, 2019, and has held the Vice Chairman position since Jan. 6, 2020.

Schultz Sworn In at STB

Michelle A. Schultz was sworn in Jan. 11, 2021 as Surface Transportation Board member, bringing the number of commissioners to its full complement of five. The U.S. Senate confirmed Schultz on Nov. 18, 2021.
