Steel Dynamics to Invest $2.5B at KCS’ Infinity Megasite

Steel Dynamics, along with its subsidiaries and partners, will invest $2.5 billion into a new aluminum flat rolled facility and biocarbon plant at the Infinity Megasite, a KCS Premier Certified Site in Columbus, Miss., the company announced Nov. 2 in a release.

Steel Dynamics’ Southwest-Sinton Division (pictured) was designed with a 3 million-ton annual production capacity, which includes a galvanizing line and a paint line; an additional galvanizing line and paint line are slated to be up and running in mid-2023.

MPR Ships First Locomotive for Steel Dynamics

Motive Power Resources, Inc. (MPR) has completed and shipped the first locomotive of a four-locomotive order for Steel Dynamics, Inc.’s new Sinton, Texas, facility, which is scheduled to begin production in early 2021.
