The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) welcomes North America’s first self-powered, zero-emission passenger train to Southern California. Also, Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) launches a new program to provide face-to-face assistance to customers; the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Board of Directors commits to funding a pilot program for electric trains; and LA Metro releases its Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (EIS/SEIR) for the Link Union Station Project (Link US).

California’s Caltrain welcomes thousands to the third public tour of its new Stadler-built KISS bilevel EMUs (electric multiple-units). Also, Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) marks the highest ridership week of 2024; and Colorado Gov. Jared Polis signs multiple transit-related bills into law, including one to advance Front Range Passenger Rail.

DART is testing its eight Stadler DMUs for 26-mile Silver Line service to “ensure that all the systems are operating as they should while running, stopping, and starting on the tracks,” according to Anthony Fuller, Vice President of Silver Line Maintenance and Operation. “Much like a new car before it’s put it on the lot, we want to make sure that everything is ready to go starting Day One for our customers.” The Silver Line is expected to launch by early 2026. Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is prepping for Silver Line commuter rail service with test runs of its eight Stadler-built DMUs (diesel multiple units). DART on May 6 reported that the Silver
