Through April 30, Puget Sound regional residents are encouraged to provide input to the Sound Transit Board of Directors on priorities for managing an unprecedented financial environment in its work to advance voter-approved transit projects that are not already under construction.

Sound Transit Requests State Aid for $11.5B Funding Gap

The Sound Transit Board of Directors has sent a letter to the state of Washington’s House and Senate transportation committees outlining the funding shortfall the agency faces due to the impacts of COVID-19 and increases in real estate prices and construction costs.

ARM Lands Long-Term ST Contract

Seattle’s Sound Transit has awarded a multi-year, $24 million contract for rail grinding, polishing and engineering inspection services to Advanced Rail Management Corp. (ARM). The contract includes corrugation measurement and track geometry, ultrasonic and eddy current testing as part of the inspection and quality assurance requirements.

USDOT Awards $40.26MM for Commuter Rail Grade Crossing Improvements

Five commuter rail agencies will receive a total of $40.26 million in grants for highway/rail grade crossing improvements from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in coordination with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The awards are part of round one of the Commuter Authority Rail Safety Improvement (CARSI) Grants Program.
