SLSI hires Davies-Schrils as Director, Research and Organizational Development

The Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI) announced on March 29 that it has hired Dr. Kim Davies-Schrils as Director, Research and Organizational Development. She will be responsible for providing design, development, oversight and analysis of key programs, and also primary research and scientific and technical reports based on program outputs.

SLSI picks Cotton for key post

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI) has named Sam Cotton as Senior Manager, Safety and Operations, replacing Mike Long, who recently accepted a position with the Federal Railroad Administration. Cotton will be responsible for management of SLSI’s Safety Culture Assessment program, a “voluntary, non-punitive and confidential five-to-ten-day onsite process with a rigorous methodology that includes an online survey of staff, discussions with management, and observations of a railroad’s daily practices.”

The Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI), a non-profit affiliate of ASLRRA (American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association) has launched “Safety Tip Tuesday,” a new program that “provides easy-to-access training materials for small railroads.”

Short Line Safety Institute seeks candidates for executive director

The Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI) is seeking candidates for the position of executive director. This person will be responsible for implementing the mission, vision, and goals of SLSI, which is to “provide leadership to enhance the safety culture and conformance of short line and regional railroads through voluntary, non-punitive partnerships in close coordination with the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA).
