Safety Culture Assessments Show Areas of Strength, Opportunities

The Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI) and the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA) Office of Research, Development & Technology have shared the results of an evaluation of all Safety Culture Assessments completed on short line railroads in 2023. Five areas of strength across the railroads and five areas of opportunity were identified.

OmniTRAX Teams With SLSI for Emergency Response Training

OmniTRAX affiliate Panhandle Northern Railway (PNR) and the Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI) recently held a two-day railroad emergency response training in Borger, Tex., that combined a classroom-based emergency preparedness, reporting and response exercise with a simulated drill for first responders and railroad staff.

The Short Line Safety Institute recently provided hazmat incident-response training through the ALERT program at NO&GC, Railway Age’s 2016 Short Line of the Year.

Also, Cummins Inc. promotes Andreas Lippert to Vice President-New Power Engineering, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) in San Francisco appoints Andrew B. Fremier as Executive Director.
