Siemens’ new higher-speed Charger diesel-electric passenger locomotive is undergoing a comprehensive testing program at the Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI) in Pueblo, Colo., prior to entry into revenue service in various U.S. locations.

Siemens to build new locomotives for SEPTA

Siemens has been awarded a $118 million USD contract to build 13 ACS-64 electric locomotives for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), operator of regional and mass transit in Philadelphia, Pa., the company announced Nov. 11, 2015. The contract includes the supply of spare parts and operation and maintenance training. An option to deliver up to an additional five locomotives is also part of the contract.

All Aboard Florida reveals Brightline brand

All Aboard Florida, the intercity passenger subsidiary of Florida East Coast Railway (FEC), announced on Nov. 9, 2015 that its Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Orlando service will be branded Brightline and also revealed the first artist’s impressions of the fleet of Siemens-supplied trainsets that will enter service when the first phase of the project is launched in mid-2017.
