At Metro Transit in St. Louis, Mo., major light-rail service disruptions may last for weeks due to damage caused by flash flooding on July 26. SEPTA Issues Trolley RFP

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) on May 12 released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the purchase of 130 trolley vehicles, with an option for up to 30 more.

“Investing in transit is an investment in our climate; equitable access to opportunities; public health and safety; and economic strength,” SEPTA General Manager and CEO Leslie S. Richards said.

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) has proposed a $1.162 capital budget for Fiscal Year 2023—its “first to break the billion-dollar mark”—and a $11.4 billion 12-year plan.

Federal Judge Halts Mask Mandate for Transportation, DOJ Appeals (UPDATED)

A Florida judge on April 18 struck down a federal mandate requiring mask use on public transportation and at transportation hubs. While railroads were deciding whether to keep the mandate in place until May 3 or make mask-wearing optional, the Department of Justice (DOJ) on April 20 filed an appeal. The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is weighing in.

MARTA and Goldman Sachs are working together on an initiative that finances new affordable housing and transit-oriented development near the agency’s 38 heavy rail stations and 12 Atlanta Streetcar light rail stops.
