Applicants sought for RSI “Simpson Scholarship”

The Railway Supply Institute (RSI) is now accepting 2018/2019 school year applications for its annual RSI undergraduate scholarship, which has been renamed the Thomas D. Simpson Annual Undergraduate Scholarship in honor of RSI’s newly retired president.

O’Malley assumes RSI throttle

Mike O’Malley began his tenure as President of the Railway Supply Institute (RSI) on Feb. 1, 2018 taking over for Tom Simpson, who has retired.

Changing of the guard at RSI

Come Feb. 1, 2018, the Railway Supply Institute (RSI) will have new leadership, as President Tom Simpson, who has spent nearly 30 years at the organization, retires. Mike O’Malley, a transportation policy expert and former Vice President, Procurement and Supply Chain Management with CSX, will succeed Simpson.

RSI numbers: 260, 756, 44, 281

The Railway Supply Institute (RSI) unveiled an analysis of the economic role its 260-plus member companies play in the U.S. economy during Railway Interchange 2017 in Indianapolis. The analysis shows that RSI members represent more than 756 rail supply locations in 44 states in 281 congressional districts.

KeyBanc: 18 months of “theoretical production visibility”

The Railway Supply Institute American Railway Car Institute Committee published its railcar industry order, delivery and backlog statistics for 1Q17 on April 25. Orders in the quarter declined sequentially to 4,814 cars from 4,866 cars in 4Q16. The industry delivered 10,042 railcars in the quarter, following last quarter’s delivery figure of 14,914 railcars. The backlog now stands at 60,471 railcars, down 9.3% from the prior quarter’s level of 66,681 cars.

Railway Supply Institute accepting scholarship applications

The Railway Supply Institute (RSI) s now accepting 2017/2018 school year applications for the annual RSI Undergraduate Scholarship which provides a minimum of five college scholarships in amounts ranging from $2,500-5,000 to children of employees throughout the rail supply industry.
