Pacific Harbor Line said late Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 it is now “serving customers located in three industrial areas near the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, linked to a 10-mile industrial spur owned by Union Pacific Railroad.”
U.S. rail intermodal volume likely is benefitting from a surge in import volume through U.S. West Coast ports as a labor contract nears expiration, according to a report released Friday, June 6, 2014, by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Hackett Associates.
Striking workers were set to return to work Wednesday at the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach, after an eight-day job action which severely affected up to 40% of the nation’s import goods flow.
