The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) hires Lucille Marvin for the newly created role of Vice President for Government Affairs. Also, Melanie Roberts joins the Port of Los Angeles as Human Resources Director; and Cris Boyd signs on as Chief Growth Officer at Rajant Corporation (Rajant), a network technology company with customers in the rail, ports, mining, military, energy, manufacturing and logistics, municipalities, and agriculture sectors.

For Ports of LA, Long Beach, ‘Record’ July Cargo

The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach reported setting July cargo records, handling 1,019,837 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) and 944,232 TEUs, respectively, as retailers and manufacturers brought in goods at an elevated pace due to concerns of higher tariffs later this year.

Port of LA Signs MOA to Expand Exports Through Central Valley

The Port of Los Angeles on June 26 announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the City of Shafter, Calif., and The Wonderful Company “to promote more efficient two-way trade connections with California’s Central Valley, with a focus on bringing more U.S. exports through the Port and its terminals.”

Port of LA Adopts $2.7B FY25/26 Budget

The Los Angeles Harbor Commission on June 12 signed off on the Port of Los Angeles’ $2.7 billion budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26, which is said to reflect the Port’s “solid financial footing” while anticipating a “cargo slowdown.”

The Port of Long Beach (POLB) reaches a cargo record in October, as consumer demand drives trade headed into the holiday season. Also, Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) reports that Savannah container volumes last month were up 10% year-over-year; and the Port of Los Angeles earns employer of the year and innovative project awards from WTS-Los Angeles.

Harbor Commission Greenlights Port of LA’s $52MM On-Dock Rail Project

The Los Angeles (Calif.) Harbor Commission on Sept. 5 approved a lease amendment that finalizes plans for a $52 million infrastructure improvement project to “significantly improve the on-dock rail capacity and reduce overall emissions” at the Port of Los Angeles’ Pier 300 terminal operated by Fenix Marine Services. Construction is expected to begin next year.
