NS, Progress Rail Unveil ‘Green’ Power

Norfolk Southern (NS) and Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, have teamed on the first GP34ECO locomotive for yard and intermediate service; it is now undergoing testing to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Tier 4 emissions certification requirements, the companies reported on Sept. 30.

STB: Five Class I’s Revenue Adequate for 2020

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) has found five of the seven U.S. Class I railroads to be revenue adequate for 2020: BNSF, CSX, Kansas City Southern, Soo Line (the U.S. affiliate of Canadian Pacific) and Union Pacific.
