The FRA report found that Amtrak trains experienced more than 1.2 million minutes of delay during the fourth quarter, up 37% from the previous quarter. System-wide, fourth-quarter train-miles were up 33% from the third quarter, coming in at 8,168,324 train-miles, as Amtrak restored service following the pandemic.

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has released a report measuring the performance and service quality of Amtrak intercity passenger train operations for fourth-quarter 2021 (ending Sept. 30). Among the findings: the Cardinal, Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle were delayed most.

NS, CSX, CN Recognized for Supplier Engagement on Emissions Reduction

Norfolk Southern (NS), CSX and CN have earned spots on CDP’s 2021 Supplier Engagement Leaderboard, which recognizes companies for their work with suppliers to reduce emissions.

NS has elevated three executives: Michael McClellan to Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer; Nabanita Nag to Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer; and Clay Moore to Vice President and Controller.

The Sherwin-Williams expansion project includes a 36,000-square-foot extension of its existing 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Statesville, N.C.; four new rail spurs to be used by NS; and a new 800,000-square-foot distribution and fleet transportation center.
