NS’s Butler honored with yard renaming

Norfolk Southern is honoring Executive Vice President Planning and Chief Information Officer Deborah Harris Butler, who is retiring Oct. 1, 2015, by renaming its classification and intermodal yard in Memphis, Tenn., “Harris Yard.”

Leadership transition at Norfolk Southern

Continuing a tradition of smooth leadership transitions, Norfolk Southern Executive Chairman Charles W. “Wick” Moorman will be stepping down effective Oct. 1, 2015. President and CEO James A. Squires will become Chairman.

Congresswoman Graham and staff tour Georgia & Florida Railway

On Sept. 15, 2015, Congresswoman Gwen Graham’s (D-FL-02), District Director Mary Lee Kiracofe and Economic Development Liaison Kent Watson toured the Georgia & Florida Railway (GFRR) in Perry, Fla. The GFRR is a network of approximately 264 miles of track commencing from its Albany, Ga. headquarters, and extending into northwestern Florida near the Gulf of Mexico. Throughout the entire line, connections are made along the way with other railroads in Florida and Georgia, including Class I’s Norfolk Southern and CSX. The GFRR is owned and managed by OmniTRAX Inc.

CP, NS complete D&H South sale

Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. has completed the sale of a 282-mile segment of its Delaware & Hudson subsidiary to Norfolk Southern Corp.—the D&H South line, which connects Schenectady, N.Y., with Sunbury, Pa.

Deborah H. Butler, Executive Vice President Planning and Chief Information Officer of Norfolk Southern (NS) will be retiring, effective Oct. 1, 2015, NS President and CEO Jim Squires announced August 4.
