Industrial Development Briefs: Virginia DRPT, BMI Group, Blue Moon Metals, Gulf Inland Logistics Park

The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) awards a $750,000 Rail Industrial Access (RIA) grant to Perdue AgriBusiness, LLC (Perdue). Also, BMI Group acquires the former Mackenzie Paper Mill; Blue Moon Metals enters into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to acquire the Springer Critical Metals Mine and Processing Plant in Nevada; and Gulf Inland Logistics Park celebrates the grand opening of its first phase.

NCCC, NCFO Reach Tentative Agreement; ARSF Members Ratify CBAs

The National Carriers Conference Committee (NCCC) reaches a tentative agreement with the National Conference of Firemen & Oilers (NCFO). Also, members of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division-International Brotherhood of Teamsters’ (BMWED-IBT) American Rail System Federation (ARSF) on the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis (TRRA) and the Norfolk and Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad (NPBL) ratify new collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).

Virginia short line displays heritage colors

The Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad (N&PBL), a switching and terminal railroad that serves customers in Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth, Va., is celebrating its 115th anniversary this month with receipt of an EMD GP38-2 painted in the bright red-and-maroon livery used on its first diesel locomotives in the 1950s.
