NCRR Announces New Economic Development Programs

The North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) on April 16 announced the launch of two new economic development programs: the Micro-Grant Program and the Brownfields Program, with the goal of “promoting economic growth across the state–leading to increased job creation and boosting freight rail usage.”

North Carolina is home to two Class I railroads and 24 short line railroads.

NCDOT Report Shows Rail’s Importance to Economy

The North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) is investing a total of $2 million in four projects in four counties across the state as part of its 2023 Build Ready Sites (BRS) program.

Rail-Served EV Battery Plant Coming to North Carolina

Epsilon Advanced Materials, Inc. (EAM), an electronic vehicle (EV) battery-material manufacturer, will break ground in 2024 on its first U.S. plant, with CSX-served, North Carolina operations to commence in 2026, the company reported Oct. 26.

NCRR: $3.9M for Build Ready Sites

The North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) is investing $3.9 million in seven counties and eight projects across the state as part of its 2022 Build Ready Site (BRS) program. Beaufort, Catawba, Chatham, Iredell, Montgomery, Randolph, and Scotland counties “will use the BRS funds to improve available rail-served sites for future industrial development to attract new businesses and encourage local economic growth,” NCRR said.
