Bipartisan ‘Reliable Rail Service Act’ Returns

U.S. Sens. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) and Roger Marshall (R-Kans.) on June 18 reintroduced the Reliable Rail Service Act to clarify the railroads’ common carrier obligation and to establish specific criteria for the Surface Transportation Board (STB) to consider when evaluating whether that obligation is being met. They said it would “give shippers much-needed certainty that is currently lacking.” The Association of American Railroads (AAR) weighs in.

NGFA Announces Speaker Lineup for 127th Annual Convention

The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) on March 2 announced its 127th Annual Convention lineup of speakers, including Association of American Railroads (AAR) President and CEO Ian Jefferies and Surface Transportation Board (STB) Board Member Michelle Schultz, who will address upcoming opportunities for grain, feed, processing and export markets at the La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, Calif., on March 21-23.
