MTA taps Troup for ESA

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has appointed veteran railway engineering professional Arthur R. “Rob” Troup as Senior Program Executive of the MTA Long Island Rail Road East Side Access (ESA) project. MTA Chief Development Officer Janno Lieber announced Troup’s appointment on Sept. 24.

LIRR 3rd track project goes to 3TC

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) board has approved a $1.8 billion design-build contract for 3rd Track Constructors (3TC) to complete work on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) expansion project.

LIRR seeks M9A EMUs

MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) has issued an RFP (Request For Proposals) to prequalify firms for a minimum of 60 and up to 160 M9A married-pair (A Car – B Car) EMU (electric multiple-unit) railcars, structured as a base order with options.

NTSB dockets opened for NJT, LIRR crashes

Dockets for the fatal Sept. 29, 2016, NJ Transit commuter rail collision in Hoboken, N.J., and the Jan. 4, 2017, Long Island Rail Road collision at the Atlantic Terminal, Brooklyn, New York, were opened to the public Sept. 21 by the National Transportation Safety Board as part of its ongoing investigations of the two accidents.
