Ontario’s Finch West LRT gets the go-ahead

On April 27, 2015, the Minister of Transportation of the Province of Ontario announced that construction would proceed on the 6.83-mile Finch West LRT project, located in the northwest suburbs of Toronto. Work would begin in 2017, with completion scheduled for 2021; estimated cost is C$1.2 billion.

Ontario Province to fund entire Hurontario LRT

Canada’s Ontario Province will be covering the entire cost of a 14.2-mile, $1.6 billion light rail line connecting the Port Credit (Mississauga) and Brampton GO Transit regional/commuter rail stations, Transportation ‎Minister Steven Del Duca confirmed on April 21, 2015.

Scarborough LRT cancelation cost cited

The indecision involving the type of rail mode for Toronto’s Scarborough Line has now been assigned a specific cost: C$75 million (US$60 million), roughly C$10 million less than high-end estimates.

Toronto RER plan moves forward

An update on plans to establish regular-interval all-day services on regional/commuter rail lines in southern Ontario was presented at the meeting of the Metrolinx board of directors on Dec. 11, 2014.
