The North County Transit District (NCTD) is significantly increasing enforcement activities against trespassers along both the Oceanside to San Diego and Oceanside to Escondido rail corridors.

First Metrolink F125 locomotive unveiled in Los Angeles

Southern California locomotive commuter rail operator Metrolink unveiled its first EMD F125 diesel locomotive at Los Angeles Union Station on July 18. The F125 is compliant with the latest U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 emissions standards and will reduce particulate matter and nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 85%.

St Louis to study three light rail extensions

St Louis County, Mo., announced on June 23 that feasibility studies will be commissioned into three potential extensions of the MetroLink light rail network, which have been identified as part of the region’s long-range transportation plan.

Mobile ticketing expands to entire Metrolink system

Metrolink’s mobile ticketing app, which allows riders the option to purchase their ticket on a smartphone, tablet or other mobile device, is now available for all Metrolink trips, including trips connecting to Los Angeles Union Station, the agency reported on March 31, 2016.

Metrolink on March 3, 2016 launched the first version of its mobile ticketing app, which will allow its riders the option to purchase their ticket on a smartphone, tablet or other mobile device for the first time in the agency’s 23-year history. The app is available in both Google Play and the Apple App stores.

Metrolink to test trains at full speed on 91/Perris Valley Line

In preparation for Metrolink passenger rail service on the expansion of the 91/Perris Valley Line (91/PVL), this weekend test trains will operate at higher speeds between Downtown Riverside and South Perris, the commuter rail service announced on Feb. 11, 2016. Metrolink trains began testing last fall along the corridor at slower speeds.

RailPlan lands Metrolink PTC-related contract

RailPlan International said Monday, March 16, 2015 it has landed a technical services contract with the Southern California Regional Rail Authority, which oversees Metrolink regional rail service, in developing Positive Train Control (PTC) to provide modifications to the PTC powering system in Metrolink’s fleet of Hyundai Rotem cab cars.
