The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and a coalition of industry partners have called on Congress and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to support additional public transit and high speed rail investment in the reconciliation bill, the Build Back Better Act. In addition, a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Board Committee has approved depositing a portion of pandemic relief act funds with small, disadvantaged and minority-owned financial institutions.

KBC Wins Stadler MARTA Railcar Subcontract

Knorr Brake Company LLC (KBC), the U.S. passenger rail subsidiary of Knorr-Bremse, has secured a subcontract with Stadler US Inc. to supply braking systems for 254 railcars (127 two-car sets) Stadler is building for MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority). Exact contract terms were undisclosed; KBC said the amount is a “lower-double-digit million-euro sum.”

MARTA Advances Atlanta BeltLine Transit Study

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Board of Directors has authorized a comprehensive engineering analysis for light rail around the Atlanta BeltLine, connecting current MARTA rapid transit stations.

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has hired Raj Srinath as Chief Financial Officer and Patricia M. Lucek as Assistant General Manager of Labor and Employee Relations, a newly created position. Additionally, Cando Rail Services has promoted Steve Bromley to the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer.

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) promoted Collie Greenwood to Deputy General Manager, Operations. In addition, California’s San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) named Al Stiehler Director of Transit Security and Passenger Safety, succeeding Manny Guaderrama, who retired in August 2020.
