EMD partners with Uptake on locomotive analytics

Electro-Motive Diesel, Inc. (EMD), a subsidiary of Progress Rail Services Corp. (a Caterpillar company), and Uptake, described as “a provider of a dynamic analytics and insight platform for a wide array of industries,” have been working together since 2014 to develop what they call “an intelligent rail analytics platform” and plan to begin piloting with select customers in the coming months.

Port of Prince Rupert expanding intermodal capacity

Maher Terminals Holding Corp., an affiliate of Maher Terminals LLC of Elizabeth, N.J. , will expand the capacity of the Port of Prince Rupert’s Fairview Container Terminal to more than 1.3 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually, from the current annual container-handling capacity of approximately 850,000 TEUs.
