RSI/CMA 2012 Early Registration extended

Early registration has been extended through Friday, Aug. 17, for the upcoming RSI/CMA 2012 event at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, in Chicago Sept. 22-25. Those registering by Aug. 17 will receive a $50 discount.

L. B Foster wins SMART concrete tie order

L.B. Foster Co. announced Thursday a contract to provide 89,175 of its CXTA Concrete Ties for the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) project. The CXT ties, equipped for Pandrol Fastclip rail fasteners, are to be installed on the new San Francisco Bay Area rail system connecting Sonoma County to the Larkspur Ferry Terminal in Marin County, north of San Francisco.

CTA to modernize maintenance facilities

Chicago Transit Authority President Forrest Claypool was joined by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Tuesday to mark the launch of a $205 million program to rehabilitate and modernize the agency’s rail and bus maintenance facilities.

Bechtel completes Dulles aerial guideway

A Bechtel-led team has completed construction of a three-mile aerial guideway that is part of the 11.7 mile alignment in Phase 1 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. The guideway will carry WMATA Metrorail trains over major highways and through Tysons Corner, Va.,a busy suburban Washington business center.

Alstom chosen for Denmark ERTMS

Alstom says it has signed a contract with Danish railway infrastructure owner Banedanmark to deliver on-board equipment to railway operators in Denmark, and to equip 503 train cars with Atlas ERTMS1 signaling capabilities.

Port of Stockton hails track connection

California’s Port of Stockton on Monday said it was “pleased to announce the completion of 3,347 feet of new track on the Port’s West Complex .” The port implemented the improvement “in conjunction with its switch carrier railroad Central California Traction Company (CCT).”
