Angels Flight funicular derails

One of two funicular cars used on Los Angeles’s resurrected Angels Flight derailed Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, after an electrical circuit was disrupted and the car’s emergency brake engaged, lifting it off the track, according to Angels Flight Railway President John Welborne.

Sustainability: It’s not easy being green

Rick Corman, 1955-2013

Richard J. “Rick” Corman, founder of R. J. Corman Railroad Group, died the morning of Aug. 23, 2013, following a 12-year battle with multiple myeloma. Corman died at his home in Nicholasville, Ky., surrounded by his family. He was 58.
