CSX completes five-state Maintenance Jamboree
CSX has performed annual Maintenance Jamborees since 1999, when a machine operator coined the term “Jamboree” to describe the mass gathering of maintenance-of-way crews and equipment in one area. The most recent Jamboree, a $25 million project encompassing five states, concluded over the 2014 July 4 holiday weekend.

Indiana Rail Road touts increased train speeds
The Indiana Rail Road Co. (INRD) said Tuesday, July 8, 2014 it will increase the speed limit for trains to 30 mph for the portion of its mainline between West Street and Stop 11 Road, beginning July 15.
LACMTA taps J.L. Patterson for track project

LRT conversion for LA Orange Line?
Pending a signature from California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on a legislative bill, Los Angeles will be cleared to convert its Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line to a light rail transit (LRT) operation in the future, reversing a longstanding prohibition and, perhaps, signaling to other U.S. locations that BRT’s benefits are, at best, limited when measured against comparable LRT operation.
