Bolivia opens concrete tie plant

Production of pre-stressed concrete ties has started at a new plant built in Bolivia by Bolivian Cement Company (Soboce) and equipped, set up and tested by Wegh Group, Italy.

For Harsco, business is a grind (that’s a good thing)

Harsco Rail, Harsco Corp.’s railway track maintenance division, has landed new sales of its rail grinding machines throughout North America for service in RailWorks Corp.-conducted contract rail grinding programs. The company says its sales to RailWorks marks Harsco’s return to the North American contract grinding sector.

Embedded challenges

It was once a common practice for freight or passenger rail service to traverse paved or cobblestone streets. Yet today, there are still many places in North America that retain such type of infrastructure for regular railroad or light rail service.
