Transit Briefs: LA Metro, Amtrak, MBTA

The first phase of the Foothill Gold Line Extension light rail line from Glendora to Pomona, Calif., will be transferred to LA Metro next month. Also, Amtrak and STARR Restaurant Group introduce a new seasonal menu on Acela First Class for customers traveling between Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., on the Northeast Corridor (NEC); and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) releases its Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the North Station Draw One Bridge Replacement Project.

Toronto: USRP Complete, USEP Under Way

After ten years and C$824 million, Toronto’s Union Station Revitalization Project (USRP) is complete, including the historic facility’s main passenger area, Bay Concourse, which was completely remodeled and expanded. Next up: Union Station Enhancement Project (USEP), which will improve the train platform space.

Texas Central: Contractor Secured. Funding? (Updated)

Privately funded high-speed rail developer Texas Central has signed a $16 billion “final agreement” with Italian firm Webuild Group and its U.S. subsidiary Lane Construction Corp. to build its 236-mile line connecting Dallas and Houston. Funding, however, is still yet to be secured.
