Federal regulators have approved a major step forward for development of a planned expansion of the streetcar system in Kansas City.

KC Streetcar slated for May start-up

In Kansas City, Mo., the two-mile, $102 million KC Streetcar (also know as RideKC Streetcar) will begin revenue service May 6, 2016. It operates through the heart of downtown, connecting the city’s River Market; Central Business District; Crossroads Arts District, Union Station and Crown Center neighborhoods.

HTSI lands Kansas City Downtown Streetcar contract

In time for the arrival of the first Urbos 3 streetcar from CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles), the KC Streetcar Authority (KCSA) has entered into an operations and maintenance contract with Saint Joseph, Mo.-based Herzog Transit Services Inc. (HTSI) for the Kansas City Downtown Streetcar.
